Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your information when you plan a charter with us.
This policy covers how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you visit kingslayersportfishing.ca or contact us.
Who we are
King Slayer Sportfishing is a fishing charter business based in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through this website.
Information you give us
When you send us a message through the contact form, we receive:
- your first and last name
- your email address
- your phone number
- your preferred date
- your captain preference
- the water you would like to fish
- how you heard about us
- your message
We use this information only to reply to your enquiry and arrange your charter. The form sends it by email to our inbox, with a copy to the company that builds and manages this website.
Online booking and deposits
Online booking and deposits are handled by an online booking provider. The details you enter in the booking calendar, including payment details, go to that provider and are covered by its own terms and privacy policy. Payment card details are not stored on our website.
Information collected automatically
Some technical information is processed automatically when you visit:
- Hosting and security. Our website hosting and security providers process technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Basic server logs are kept for security and troubleshooting.
- Web analytics. We use a web analytics service to understand how visitors use the site. It records pages viewed, your general location, your device and browser, the site that referred you, and actions such as submitting an enquiry, tapping our phone number or clicking Book Now.
We use analytics to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you by name.
Cookies
Our web analytics service uses cookies or similar technologies to count visits and activity on the site. We do not use advertising cookies or cookies that track you across other websites.
By continuing to use this site, you agree to this use of analytics cookies. You can change your mind:
- block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- use the opt-out tools offered by the analytics provider
Maps, video and social media content
This site shows a map, a video player and a social media photo feed from third parties. When that content loads, the provider may receive technical information such as your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy. The video player loads only when you press play.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with the company that builds and manages this website, as described above
- with the service providers described on this page (hosting and security, email delivery, online booking and web analytics), only as needed for their service
- when the law requires it
Where your information is stored
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Canada. There, it is subject to local laws, and authorities may be able to access it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries submitted through the contact form are kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically.
- Our email delivery service keeps a copy of each sent message in its delivery log for 180 days, so a lost message can be resent. After that it is deleted automatically.
- Emails we exchange with you are kept only as long as we need them for your charter and our business records.
- Booking details held by our online booking provider, and data held by our web analytics service, are kept under those providers’ own settings and policies.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. The site uses a secure, encrypted connection, access to enquiries is limited to us and our website manager, and our service providers use their own security measures. No system is completely secure, so please tell us if you think something has gone wrong.
Your rights and choices
Under Canadian privacy law, you can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- withdraw your consent, for example by asking us to stop contacting you or to delete your enquiry
If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to arrange your charter, and some records may need to be kept for legal reasons.
How we handle requests
To make a request, email or call us. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days and explain if we cannot do what you ask.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Charters involving minors are booked by an adult. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website or services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
